Entrust People are recruiting for a Principal Electronics Design Engineer to join their high-profile client based in the North East of Scotland.

 

This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Electronics Engineer with high voltage power supply design experience to join the Senior Management Team and lead a multidisciplinary team delivering electronic designs against customer defined or company defined requirements for new products.    

 

JOB PURPOSE

·         Deliver electronics designs against customer-defined or company-defined requirements for new products as required

·         Provide technical direction/guidance for design engineers

·         Provide technical support for existing products as required

·         Provide technical representation of organisation to its customers

·         Provide technical support to sales staff as required

·         Provide technical leadership within the design team

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

·         Review and assimilate customer technical requirements

·         Prepare technical proposals and support sales quotations process with technical input as required

·         Manage technical risk in defining and proposing technical approach for new products

·         Liaise with customer as required/support sales staff as required

·         Participate as required in customer meetings/presentations/internal project management meetings

·         Provide technical direction/guidance to design team

·         Liaise with production engineers to enable introduction of new designs into manufacture

·         Determine and document electronics design solutions, parts requirements, embedded code and test requirements for new products

·         Contribute as required to the mechanical and packaging designs for new products

·         Define general purpose and special to-type test equipment for new products as required

·         Carry out development, test, modification and design proving of new designs

·         Create and maintain documented records of designs and design changes

·         Determine and document modifications for existing products as required

·         Assist as required to resolve manufacturing and test process problems

·         Collaborate with others as a member of a project team under the direction of a project manager or in the role of project manager

·         Work in accordance with all applicable regulatory requirements and company safety requirements

·         Maintain an awareness of new techniques and technologies that could improve the organisations market position

·         Other duties defined by the engineering manager from time to time

 

QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS REQUIRED

·         B. Eng./B.Sc. Electronics or equivalent

·         Switch-mode and/or resonant power converter design

·         Design of high-speed closed-loop controls

·         Digital control techniques (desirable)

·         Implementing embedded processor solutions in real-time applications

·         General-purpose analogue and digital design

·         Direct customer contact

·         Manufacturing industry environment

·         Project management

·         Experience of preparing technical proposals/assessing technical risk
