They are currently recruiting for a full time Laboratory Technician’s to run laboratory equipment, process clinical samples, assist scientists in carrying out experiments and process results while ensuring the laboratory environment is maintained effectively.

Other responsibilities will be as follows:

Role Responsibilities

  • Routine verification, calibration, maintenance and operation of laboratory equipment.
  • Operate and run samples on appropriate reference systems.
  • Ensure the laboratory environment is clean and tidy ensuring to empty clinical waste bins and general waste bins.
  • Receive, process, test, aliquot and store clinical samples including all sample information from clinical sites.
  • Perform testing of the platform technology on site and at clinical sites in Edinburgh and Glasgow.
  • Perform testing of clinical samples on clinical analyser reference systems on site and at clinical sites.
  • Travel to clinics for sample processing and testing.
  • Prepare buffer solutions as per agreed procedural specifications.
  • Ensure laboratory storage areas fully stocked with consumables/cleaning materials.
  • Carry out meter testing as per meter test procedure and record/report results appropriately.
  • Carry out experiments exactly as per protocol.
  • Record and communicate experimental observations and recommendations to assay development team.
  • Initiate and investigate non-conformances and ensure closure to agreed timelines.
  • Adopt good scientific practices in all phases of the assay research and development process ensuring to follow all appropriate internal procedures.
  • Draft new processes/procedures required.
  • Complete COSHH assessments if and when required.
  • Train other personnel on required procedures and ensure personal training up-to-date.
  • Adhere to all relevant regulatory and customer requirements.
  • Work in conjunction with the quality policy and objectives.

About You

  • You will have experience of working in laboratories and track record of working with GLP guidelines.
  • Experience in handling clinical samples and operating clinical analysers
  • Working understanding of common immunoassay systems and commercial diagnostic assay design experience would be desirable.
  • Confidence working without supervision in a lab environment
  • Computer literacy and data analysis skills
  • Innovation in solving problems
  • Basic knowledge of diagnostic assay technology
  • Attention to detail
  • Good numeracy skills and understanding of molarity
  • Proactivity in seeking out jobs in the laboratory that require to be carried out
  • Driving licence with own transport would be desirable.
